Creating A Portfolio Website

Image
Creating a professional website is a way for people to express themselves and their work in a unique way that can say more about them than a regular resume might. It is one thing to put on a resume that a candidate has skills or experience using certain software or social media platforms, but having a website that is able to put those skills and experience in front of an employer may be more valuable. This website will be used to promote the creator because it will be used to share their portfolio with a potential employer. If the creator is interested in a position or has an upcoming interview, the website would be used to show the abilities of the candidate and to portray a bit of their personality, their work, and their previous accomplishments.  The social media projects previously worked on in class tie in with the website because they were almost stepping stones to creating this website. Twitter as a Social Tool

Image
Social media has completely changed the way that people interact and spread information. Twitter, in particular, has established itself as being one of the most powerful ways for people to communicate with each other. Beyond socializing, Twitter has become an avenue for users to send messages for help during natural disasters, to organize political groups, and inform users about events going on around the world in real time. Twitter was a way for information to be shared quickly after the bombing at the Boston Marathon in 2013. In 2011, Egyptians used Twitter as a tool for organizing and pushing a revolution. These are just a few of the many instances that Twitter has been used to do more than simply socialize. Twitter can be useful as a journalistic, political, and organizational tool in large par...

What Creating a Wiki Page is Really Like

The concept of making something that can be seen by millions on such a large platform is an exciting thing. In creating a wiki page, anyone is able to do just that no matter what their interests or level of experience is. Creating one’s own wiki page is something that will almost certainly pose some challenges. Despite these challenges, however, making a wiki page can also be quite a rewarding experience.       The most challenging part for some could be finding a topic that has not already been written about. Since wikiHow already has such a vast selection of topics and content that have been written about, it can be difficult to create a unique page that will stand on its own and will not be interfered with on the wiki platform. It may also seem challenging to think of a topic that will draw interest from internet users. However, chances are if a topic is useful to one person, it will be useful to another person. It is not an impossible task, and after a topic ...

Social Media is More Than Likes and Retweets

Image
Social media is constantly transforming. What once was a way to simply connect with friends has become a path for major change.  As social media has grown more popular, it has become a way in which people have begun to spread not only their own personal personas, but ideas, news, and awareness about events and social issues.  Social media gives its users the power to become whoever they want to be and control their own image. This makes social media intrusive only to a certain extent. People using social media do have control over the type of content that they post, where it is seen, and even have the power to take advantage of privacy settings controlling who sees it. It is possible to view social media as being intrusive because of the rapid spread of news stories or rumors that allow the public to scrutinize, comment, and speculate about the nature of other user’s posts. However, this mass form of fast communication is something that makes social media what it is. ...
